Here's a simple recipe for chicken biryani:


Ingredients:


1.5 lbs boneless chicken, cut into pieces

2 cups basmati rice

3 medium onions, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

2 green chilies, sliced

2 large tomatoes, chopped

2 teaspoons coriander powder

1 teaspoon cumin powder

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon chili powder

Salt, to taste

1/2 teaspoon garam masala

2 tablespoons ghee or oil

2 cups water

Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Fresh mint leaves, chopped

2 cups boiled egg

1 lemon, sliced



Instructions:


  1. In a large pot, heat ghee or oil over medium heat.
  1. Add sliced onions and cook until they are golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add sliced green chilies and chopped tomatoes, and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  4. Add chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  5. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt, and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add garam masala, 2 cups of water, and 2 cups of rice. Stir to combine.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and cook until the rice is fully cooked and the liquid is absorbed (about 20 minutes).
  8. In a separate pan, heat ghee or oil and fry the eggs until crispy.
  9. To serve, layer the cooked rice and chicken mixture in a serving dish. Top with fried eggs, lemon slices, chopped coriander leaves, and mint leaves. Serve hot.
